Option A: Installer (recommended)
- Download
PlutosTweaker-<version>-Setup.msifrom your Lemon Squeezy order email and verify its checksum against the.sha256file provided alongside it (see Checksums & SBOM). - Run the installer. It installs per-machine under
C:\Program Files\Pluto's Tweaker\. - Choose whether to create a Desktop shortcut (a Start Menu shortcut is always created).
- Finish. Pluto's Tweaker does not add a startup entry and does not launch automatically after install.
Verifying the checksum (recommended)
certutil -hashfile PlutosTweaker-<version>-Setup.msi SHA256Compare the output against the matching line in PlutosTweaker-<version>-Setup.msi.sha256. If it doesn't match, do not run the installer — get a fresh copy from your order email.
Option B: Portable ZIP
- Download
PlutosTweaker-<version>-win-x64.zipand verify its checksum the same way. - Extract the entire ZIP to its own folder — don't run the exe from inside the ZIP viewer.
- Run
PlutosTweaker.exedirectly. No installation step, no admin rights needed to launch (only to apply a tweak).
The portable ZIP is fully supported, not a lesser "beta-only" option.
First launch
The first time you run Pluto's Tweaker, a short one-time welcome walkthrough explains safety, privacy, and backups, and does a quick read-only system check. Nothing changes on your PC during this walkthrough.
Uninstalling
- Installer: use Windows Settings > Apps, or Add/Remove Programs. This removes the installed application files only — it does not delete your backups, history, logs, or license, which live under
%LocalAppData%\PlutosTweaker\. - To also remove that local data: use the separate "Remove Pluto's Tweaker Data (Optional)" Start Menu shortcut the installer creates. It asks for its own explicit confirmation before deleting anything, and is never run automatically by uninstall.
- Portable ZIP: just delete the extracted folder. Local data under
%LocalAppData%\PlutosTweaker\is separate and untouched — delete it manually if you want it gone too.
Upgrading
Run a newer version's installer over an existing install — it replaces the application files and keeps your local data.
