Recovery & Restore guide

Before Pluto's Tweaker changes anything reversible, it captures the exact original value first — it never relies on guessing or remembering what a "default" should be.

Restore All

  • Go to the Restore page and choose Restore All.
  • This reverts every reversible tweak back to its captured baseline and verifies the result afterward.
  • Restore All always works, in every license state (Unlicensed, Trial, Active, Expired, Invalid, or Revoked). A license only ever affects whether you can start a new optimization run — it never blocks restoring, viewing history, viewing logs, or exporting data.
  • You do not need to remember what you changed. Restore All reads back its own record of what it changed and undoes exactly that.

If Pluto's Tweaker closes unexpectedly mid-run

If the app is closed or crashes while a tweak is being applied, it detects this automatically the next time you launch it and offers to run Restore All immediately. You can accept that prompt, or decline and go run Restore All manually from the Restore page whenever you're ready — declining does not lose the recovery information.

Where backups live

Your local backup data, history, and logs are stored under %LocalAppData%\PlutosTweaker\ (see the exact path shown on Settings > Backups & Recovery in your own installation). This location is:

  • Independent of whether the app is installed via MSI or run as a portable ZIP.
  • Not deleted by a normal uninstall — only the separate "Remove Pluto's Tweaker Data (Optional)" shortcut removes it, after its own explicit confirmation.
  • Not uploaded anywhere automatically. Exporting it is a manual, explicit action you take.

If a backup looks corrupted or a restore doesn't fully succeed

  • Pluto's Tweaker verifies the result after Restore All runs and will tell you if something could not be confirmed reverted, rather than silently reporting success.
  • If you see that message, check the History page for the specific item flagged, and Logs for detail on what was attempted.
  • We recommend keeping your own independent backups (e.g. a system restore point or full image) for anything you cannot afford to lose, especially during this pre-1.0 phase.

What Restore All does not cover

Restore All reverts tweaks this application applied. It cannot undo changes made by other software, by you manually in Windows Settings, or system events unrelated to Pluto's Tweaker (Windows Update changing a setting back, for example). If something looks wrong that you don't recognize from this app's own History, it likely didn't come from here.
